Mark Tyoe - vocals, bass, guitar
Curtiss Road Blues Band founder Mark Tyoe is a man of many talents: singer, songwriter, bassist, guitarist, keyboard player and multiple Northeast chainsaw carving champion! His wildlife carvings can be seen throughout the region in homes camps and businesses.
Now, along with his neighbors, singer and lead guitarist George Deveny, drummer Carl Wohnsen and rhythm guitarist Willie Smith, the Curtiss Road Blues Band is out playing in area concerts and clubs.
The Salisbury-based band plays blues-rock, classic rock and soulful originals, and has been out playing area clubs and concerts to enthusiastic crowds. Their repertoire includes strong original songs written by Mark and George, blues standards and early rock n roll, along with tunes by the Beatles, Allman Bros. Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Creedence Clearwater Revival and other classic artists.
Mark and George spent time this spring recording demo songs and jamming with their neighbors Carl and Willie, leading to the formation of the Curtiss Road Blues Band. Marks powerhouse voice and rock-solid bass propel the group. George is widely recognized as one of the regions top guitarists, best known for his incendiary slide guitar work with Blueprints and the Tom Healey Band. Carl recently returned to the area after living in New Orleans for several years, where he was a member of the Ninth Ward Marching Band. Willie holds down the rhythm guitar and the band delivers musical excitement every time they take the stage!
